Woman to woman?

Here are injury issues that are unique to women. A woman is more likely to be a victim survivor of a sexual assault, botched cosmetic surgeries, birthing injuries and major automobile accident injuries. Women suffer more major injuries in automobile accidents than men. They are usually the victim survivors of assault due to lack of security on other's properties. Women are also more likely to be the victims of medical malpractice than men.

Statistics suggest that 70 percent of women prefer to have an attorney who is a woman. There are many potential reasons for this preference. The most obvious reasons is simple. A Woman may not feel comfortable speaking with a male regarding the intimate details surrounding her injuries.


However, there is a perceived lack of sensitivity and concern from male attorneys. Women's injuries have a different nature from men's, and as the client they want female attorneys to better relate to how their injury affected them personally. For example, women may give a higher value to stay-at-home mothers, just like they would an individual who worked outside of the home. There is also a likelihood of a female understanding the mental toll of an injury suffered by another woman.


Without sounding stereotypical, there are clinical studies that support four key strong-points that may give female lawyers an advantage, when representing male or female personal injury clients: empathy, nurturing, listening and communication.


Women have stronger verbal and communication abilities. Research suggests that men use on average 6,000 words per day while women use 15,000 to 19,000 words per day!
